A standard table tennis court consists of a rectangular table measuring 9 feet (2.74 meters) in length, 5 feet (1.525 meters) in width, and standing 2.5 feet (76 cm) above the floor. The playing surface is divided into two equal halves by a net that is 6 inches (15.25 cm) high, stretched across the center. Each half of the table is marked with a white end line along the width and a white center line running from the end line to the net. The court area typically extends at least 5 meters (16.4 feet) in length and 3 meters (9.8 feet) in width around the table to allow for player movement. The playing surface is uniformly dark, usually blue or green, with a matte finish to minimize glare, and the lines are white for contrast.
